How do I save money on the site?

(a) First of all, just by being on the site and making your own invitations you are doing it for about a third of the cost than if you had them printed and assembled for you.

(b) When you are in the cart you will see that most items have quantity reductions, so it is cheaper to buy 100 sheets than it is to buy 90, or it’s cheaper to buy 20m of some types of ribbon than it is to buy 18m. Look at the quantity reductions carefully before you buy.

(c) Some styles have off-cuts that you may be able to use – check out: “how to make this invitation” in the style you are interested in. If you want your offcuts please say so in the special instructions box.

(d) Check out our Clearance Page for the latest special offers and to save up to 50%. Offers on this page are while stocks last so don't waste time.

(e) Become a "fan" of Daintree Paper on Facebook. We are regularly putting up special offers for our Facebook fans such as competitions or discount codes to save money on your stationery.

Printing Questions

Will Daintree print my Invitations for me?


Yes, if you are unable to print your invitations yourself we offer a printing service.

Our invitations are divided into 2 sections.

Our DIY Wedding Invitations section contains all of our Invitations where you do the assembly. The prices show do not include printing but we would be delighted to print them for you. Simply order your stationery and in the "Special Instructions" section at checkout mention that you want printing. We will email you with a quote for the printing costs and will instruct you how to continue. To get an idea of the costs before ordering click on the "Printing" tab on the individual Invitation Style's page.

In 2011 we launched a new range of Printed Invitations which include all printing costs in the price. There is still some assembly involved but if you want we will take care of the assembly for you too. Simply enter your quantities in the "SA" box if you want to assemble them yourself or in the "FF" box if you want us to assemble them for you.

Once you have placed your order just email your wording to info@daintree.ie.
We'll post you out a printed proof. Once you are happy with the proof let us know and we will print the whole order.

Can I print on this paper?

We always recommend that you do a trial on your own printer before starting a big run.
As a rule, a paper with a flat surface between 60 and 160gsm will print on a laser printer. Other papers up to about 350gsm and over 60gsm including textured paper should print on an inkjet printer.

How do I print on papers less than 60gsm like Thai Silk?

Thai Silk is a very light (25g) machine-made paper that is excellent for printed overlays. It can work well with both laser and inkjet printers.
If you are having any problems, try these tips:

Print one sheet at a time. Sometimes Thai Silk can shift because it’s so light. It will help if you hand feed each sheet through the printer separately.

Place a sheet of standard A4 printing paper behind each sheet of Thai Silk and hand feed both sheets together one on top of the other. This can prevent it becoming caught in the rollers.

The feeding path of your printer is important, the straighter the path the easier, if your sheet has to do somersaults as it’s feeding through the printer it probably won’t take light papers.

How do I print on heavier papers of 270gsm plus?

Your printer probably has a facility to take heavier papers; there may be a small icon of an envelope to point you to making an adjustment to your printer.

How do I set my printer to print smaller than A4?

Go to - printer settings – properties – page set up – page size.

Can I print in metallic ink (gold/silver/etc)?

Unfortunately, home printers are not capable of printing with metallic inks. Contact a specialised printing company for this service. We are unable to print with metallic ink but with a good choice of colour you can receive a similar finish.

Can I print on Place Cards?

Place cards are too small to print in most home printers. Our place cards are intended for handwritten inscriptions. If you want to have printed place cards, simply order your desired card as A4, print as many as you need and then cut them to the required size.

Can I print images/photographs on your paper?

Printing photographs or any sort of image is more complicated than standard text because of the amount of ink that has to be applied.

As a guideline, if you are printing photographs, the smoother the surface, the more accurate the image.
We do recommend that you run a test first.

What do I use to stick my invitations together?

For general paper sticking we recommend using a Pritt-Stick.

Glue tape is great for transparent or semi transparent papers as it isn’t visible afterwards.

Double-sided tape is strong and good for heavier cards and textured papers. It is not good for repositioning.

For sticking non-paper 3D decorations glue dots are effective.

How many envelopes/invitations can I seal with 1 wax stick/wax gun stick?

There are no fixed rules about this. We have found over time that on average, each wax stick is able to make around 15 seals, while the wax gun sticks make about 10. However, this depends on how much wax you use per seal. You may find that you get more or less than this amount. 

How are the envelopes sealed?

Most of our envelopes are pre-gummed in the traditional fashion, meaning they require some moisture and pressure when closing.
Because our envelopes are made from a heavier stock, 135 - 140g paper instead of the normal 80 - 100g, they may need extra pressure to ensure they stick properly as the gum on the envelope was developed for sealing a lighter envelope.

Our Indian Cotton envelopes are supplied with a peel-off adhesive for ease of use.

Which pen should I use?

Our range of coloured gel pens work on nearly all our papers.
The calligraphy markers are good for place names and envelopes.


About Our Products

Are Daintree Paper’s products recycled/green?

We try to ensure that all our products are ethically produced and kind to the environment. Certain papers, such as our Indian Cotton, are made from wholly recycled material, while others come from renewable resources. For more information, check out our About Us page.

What papers are suitable for watercolours?

Indian Cotton paper is the most watercolour-friendly paper that we stock, and provides excellent results. Don’t forget to soak your paper before painting to help prevent buckling.

Can I order samples?

Each invitation is also available as a sample pack, containing all the materials needed to make the main invitation, evening invitation and reply card of that style.

You can order these at the Wedding Suite page of your choice. These packs do not contain any tools, but if you need any you can order them through the site


The product I want is out of stock! How long until it comes back in?

We order our products from many different suppliers all over the world, so we don’t have a fixed time for reorders. We try to always keep a large quantity of all our regular papers in stock. However, certain items do sell out from time to time. We always recommend that if you buy more than you need to allow for mistakes.
If you want to be 100% sure of all your materials buy them altogether at the one time. You can save money with quantity breaks this way too.

Can I get larger than A4 sheets?

The only larger than A4 sheets we have available are A3 papers in the following forms: Rusticus 95g and 200g (white & ivory) and Stockwell 130g.

Can I make different designs from those on the site?

Yes, please be creative.
Remember however if you order the materials for the invitations through our wizard, some of the papers (the ones you won’t be printing on) will be pre-cut for you. This may restrict you, but you can email us when you are ordering and tell us what and what not to cut.

Also remember you can order the various papers and materials you need separately through our site. The advantage to this method is that it allows you to be more precise with your order (for instance, you can select a colour envelope than those supplied as part of a specific wedding suite).

Let’s say you like style Alaska gold but you want to use ivory card instead of white.
Put in all the quantities for what you need for main invitations, evening invitations etc. When you go to the shopping cart you will see that we have calculated the quantities you will need in each type of paper, make a note of the quantity of white Hahnemuhle card needed, enter zero for the white Hahnemuhle and click modify, go to “A4 paper and card” on the side bar, go to white ivory cream section and choose Hahnemuhle ivory, put in the same quantity as you were getting in white and add to cart.


Postage & Shipping

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Daintree Paper ships our products everywhere, well, almost everywhere.
Our delivery costs are calculated on the total value rather than the total weight as it would be impossible to estimate the weights. Occasionally the actual shipping cost is cheaper than the amount charged. When this is the case we will always refund the difference to your card and email you to inform you of this.
If you wish to have your order shipped by a faster service than the post office please process your order as normal and then mention in the special instructions what you would like. We will work out the cost and email you to let you know of any additional payments we might need.

Are there any restrictions on shipping paper?

If you are planning on sending any of our products to Australia, New Zealand or other Pacific locations, you should be aware that there are restrictions on importing products that contain natural fibres or petals (such as our handmade Indian Cotton aster paper). There is a quarantine period and added charges involved which means that this type of paper may not be the best choice.
If in doubt, check with your local post office for further information

Can I track my order?

Orders under €25 in value are sent by standard post and cannot be tracked.
Orders over €25 are sent by courier and can be tracked. If for any reason you need to track your order, please email us after it has been dispatched and we can give you your tracking number.
The maximum shipping charge for orders to the U.K. is €25.

How long will it take to ship?

We try and despatch all our orders within 2 working days. Once despatched -
Fastway should take no more than two days.
Overseas registered post may take anything from 3 – 10 working days depending on location.
Printing Orders and Customised Guestbooks etc. will take longer. For an estimated dispatch time please contact us.

Can I ship to a P.O. Box number?


No.

Can I change my order before it’s shipped?

Maybe. Email us immediately when you have decided to make a change. If we haven’t shipped it yet, you’ll be able to make the change at no additional cost. If we have already shipped it and you still want to make the change you will have to decide whether to:

(a) Wait until you receive the goods, return what you want to change, and we’ll send you the new goods with a charge for shipping.

(b) Place a new order, we’ll send it to you straight away, then when you receive the original order you can send it back for a refund.
